Today, Hi-Rez Studios released a new Fan Video Kit that includes various clips of Global Agenda game play footage, launching The Eyes of The World Are Upon YOU! contest. This kit supplements the previously released Fan Site Kit, which includes a bunch of great art and audio assets.
Hi-Rez is encouraging fans to use these materials – in combination with other player created content — to create videos that promote Global Agenda and then post them to the Global Agenda Fan Videos Group on YouTube.
** NOTE: AN UPDATE WAS MADE TO THE FAN VIDEO KIT AT 4:45 PM EASTERN TIME ON MARCH 14, 2009. THIS INCLUDES THE SAME VIDEO FILES, BUT THE QUALITY IS IMPROVED SOME. IN ADDITION, MUSIC FILES WERE ADDED TO THIS KIT VERSUS JUST THE FAN KIT **

Review The Incentives
In order to encourage videos to be created, as well as reward the biggest fans, Hi-Rez is running a promotion between now and May 10, 2009. The Studio will be giving out some awards and prizes, as well as special mention on the Global Agenda website, to the makers of those Global Agenda Fan videos that deemed the most cool by a developer selection committee.
Specifically:
- Hi-Rez will be awarding coupons to the Global Agenda T-Shirt and Merchandise Shop to up to 10 different fans that create the videos deemed most compelling between now and midnight EDT on May 10, 2009 (see below for some of the things we’ll be looking for).
- Hi-Rez will give special kudos on the Global Agenda website to the videos deemed:
- Most Humorous
- Best Representation of the Game
- Best 30-second Commercial (the committee will be lenient on the exact time, but generally will be looking for those videos that are most succinct and impactful in a 30′ish second timeframe).
- Best "Produced" (i.e., looks the most polished and professional)
- Most Viral (i.e, has gotten lots of views and has a special "hook" to it).
- The maker of the video we deem "Overall Best" that is submitted before midnight US Eastern Time on May 10, 2009, and that meets all other eligibility requirements, will also receive a $200 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
- Hi-Rez will be calling out the best videos on the Global Agenda website and will issue a press release announcing the videos it thinks were most compelling and best promoted the game. The videos will also be promoted on the Hi-Rez Studios YouTube Channel at http://www.youtube.com/hirezstudios.
- Makers of great fan videos who also meet Hi-Rez’s other eligibility and PC requirements will receive priority invitations to the Global Agenda Closed Beta program when it begins, as well as a limited number of top priority keys to give to their friends.
Know What We’re Looking For
Hi-Rez is looking for great, creative videos that do a good, fair job of promoting the game and help draw positive attention to the game. The Studio will specifically be judging videos based on:
- How many views the videos have gotten (so it will pay to release the video early and start promoting it!).
- The creativity and originality of the videos.
- How well the videos represent the game .
- The videos’ average rating on YouTube.
- How compelling and innovative the videos are.
Hi-Rez is also encouraging players to release more than one video if they like — and extra credit given to those that create multiple quality videos.
IMPORTANTLY NOTE: Players MAY add their own player-created footage to the video, so long as that footage belongs to them or is in the public domain (i.e., does not violate copyright laws). However, players in our Alpha or Beta testing programs may NOT add their own screenshots or videos from the game – all game footage must be pulled from either the Fan Video Kit, the Fan Site Kit, or other publicly available resources.
ALSO: While we’ve touted it as making a "Global Agenda Trailer" — don’t let that limit your thinking on what a video could be. While we love love love the basic game trailer format, you could also go for more adventurous formats: Humor; Comparing Global Agenda to other games; Doing your own "story" built around the footage, etc.
Understand the Guidelines on Video Submissions
Some general guidelines for creating videos and posting to YouTube:
- You must be 16 years or older to enter. Participants under 18 years old may require parental consent for awards.
- Videos should be at least 20 seconds and under 3 minutes. Brevity is valued!
- For players in the Global Agenda Alpha or Beta programs, the non-disclosure agreement still applies! So unfortunately, at this time, players in the early testing program cannot use their own screenshots or videos taken inside the game. If players want to show footage from the game, they will need to pull from either the Fan Site Kit, the Fan Video Kit, or other sources of publicly available game information. (Players are encouraged to add their own fan art or player-added commentary to their videos — but information cannot be revealed about the game that’s not otherwise publicly available already). If you have questions about what is and isn’t suitable, feel free to contact globalagendasupport@hirezstudios.com.
- You must abide by the general YouTube Terms of Service.
- Your video must be generally suitable to be viewed by audiences of all ages. No nudity. No profanity. Etc.
- You should not do anything in the making of the video that endangers yourself or others (i.e., no trying to build your own jetpack and fly across a room :).
- You cannot break copyright laws. So any music or video footage must be either original content created by yourself or footage made available through our Fan Site or Fan Video Kits. Some Global Agenda-specific audio assets are included in the Global Agenda Fan Site Kit, available on www.globalagendagame.com.
- Hi-Rez Studios solely and exclusively reserves the right to judge whether a video is suitable for it to promote and which video makers to reward in any way. If required, we reserve the right to change the contest rules at any time, including changing or eliminating prizes, adding, amending or removing specific contest guidelines, and even canceling the contest.
- In no way does participation in this effort imply employment with or for Hi-Rez Studios. Your participation in this contest is entirely voluntary and is for entertainment purposes only.
- Redemption of all prizes are subject to redemption terms and conditions of the specific retailer or service provider.
Submit Your Video
Videos makers that wish to submit a video for the contest should:
- Make sure they have an account on YouTube.
- Upload the Video to YouTube. Make sure to use the tag “Global Agenda Fan Video”.
- Join the YouTube group for fans of Global Agenda at http://www.youtube.com/group/GlobalAgendaFans
- Add their video to the Global Agenda Fan Videos group. (This will go into a queue to be approved by Hirez).
- Fill out the form at http://www.globalagendagame.com/fanvideos. This will submit your information to Hi-Rez and make sure we’re aware of it.
Players that submit videos are consenting for Hi-Rez to reference the videos on it website or in other publications or promotions, if it deems fitting — as well as to link to the maker’s video on YouTube in its mentions of the video.
